Dr. Houle earned her B.A. degree from Ohio University with dual majors of psychology and criminology. She continued her training through Western Carolina University, where she earned her master's of arts (M.A.) degree. Dr. Houle co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles, and presented the findings at local and national conferences. Dr. Houle earned her Ph.D. from the clinical psychology program at Auburn University, a nationally ranked program by U.S. News & World Report in 2020. As part of her doctoral training, Dr. Houle worked extensively in a residential setting for adolescent males who had engaged in sex offending behaviors. She provided assessment and therapeutic services, while also conducting research. Dr. Houle completed her predoctoral internship at Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison, WI where she was immersed in forensic psychology. She received a breadth and depth of forensic interviewing skills and assessment training by working with court-involved adolescents and adults. She also worked with a local non-profit organization to provide assessment and treatment services to children and families who had experienced trauma.
Dr. Houle continued her specialization in forensic psychology by completing a one-year, forensic postdoctoral fellowship at Springfield Hospital Center, which included completing evaluations for courts throughout Maryland. Dr. Houle became a licensed psychologist in Maryland in 2013, and her early career was spent providing psychological services to adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system. Additionally, she provided a range of clinical and forensic services to adults in a maximum-security, psychiatric hospital.
Dr. Houle is an Ohioan (originally from northeast Ohio), and she was excited to return to her roots in 2016. For the past four years, Dr. Houle has provided court-ordered evaluation services to juveniles and adults while working at Netcare Forensic Center. Dr. Houle also conducts evaluations for District V Forensic Diagnostic Center and the Delaware County Juvenile Court. Dr. Houle is a licensed psychologist in Ohio, practicing clinical and forensic psychology. She is a member of the Ohio Psychological Association, the American Psychological-Law Society, the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She has been recognized as an expert in clinical and forensic psychology in courts throughout Ohio and Maryland. Dr. Houle brings a wealth of knowledge, training, and experience to her work, and finds great meaning through her practice as a psychologist.
